How the Grand Prix works

Winchester Running Club runs its own Grand Prix using the results of every Hampshire Road Race League race. Andy Carton manages it, results are updated after each race, and prizes are awarded at the end of the season.

Scoring

In both the main and age-adjusted competitions, the first WRC lady and man score 13 points, the second 12, the third 11, and so on down to the twelfth on 2 points. Everyone finishing after that scores 1 point. Points from all 12 HRRL races are added together.

In the age-adjusted competition, the times of older runners and teens are first reduced by a factor based on their age on race day. Winners of the main competition are excluded from the age-adjusted one.

Awards

Awards are made at the end of each season to the first, second and third lady and man in both the main and age-adjusted competitions, to the Most Improved runner, and to anyone who completes every race in the series.
